Matcha Origins
Just like true Champagne must come from France’s Champagne region, authentic matcha comes from Japan — with Uji, on the outskirts of Kyoto, being the most celebrated region for its exceptional quality. Due to Uji’s limited production, we also source matcha from Shizuoka and Kagoshima, Japan’s two largest tea producing regions, renowned for their rich tea heritage and craftsmanship.

Uji, Kyoto
Uji is the birthplace of matcha and the historical heart of Japanese tea culture. For over 800 years, its farmers have cultivated the world’s finest matcha, passing down time-honoured traditions through generations. What makes Uji matcha exceptional is its unique terroir — a misty climate, mineral-rich soil, and pristine spring water — giving the tea its signature smoothness and sweet, umami-rich character.
In the 14th century, Uji matcha was reserved exclusively for tea ceremonies held by royalty, high-ranking generals, and nobility. Today, this once-rare treasure can be enjoyed at home.

At Moicha, our Superior Grade and Premium Grade Matcha is freshly sourced directly from Uji. We work closely with one of the region’s most respected matcha producers and tea masters, with over 180 years of tea-growing expertise. Through direct trade relationships with Uji’s farmers, we ensure traceability, sustainability, and unmatched quality — in every cup.

Shizuoka
Home to the iconic Mount Fuji, Shizuoka is Japan’s largest tea-producing region and a leader in sustainable farming innovation.
Our Latte Grade matcha celebrates sustainably grown matcha from this region, created in partnership with a fourth-generation eco-farmer in Kakegawa. These farms use solar panels not only for clean energy but also to provide natural shading for tea plants — a unique method that yields a delicate, subtle flavour ideal for mixing.

All tea is grown without chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides, ensuring a clean, pure product from farm to cup. Single origin and fully traceable, our matcha guarantees consistent quality in every batch.
Specially crafted for everyday enjoyment, our Latte Grade matcha is perfect for milk-based drinks like matcha lattes, as well as creative matcha beverages, baking, desserts, and smoothies.
